From Concept to Corso Como.
THE PAIR OF WING-HEELED PUMPS BEGAN AS A CONCEPT SUBMITTED TO CINDERTHRILLER: THE INTERNATIONAL SHOE DESIGN COMPETITION BY I-D MAGAZINE AND ITALIAN FOOTWEAR BRAND ALBERTO GUARDIANI. “FLUTTERBY” PLACED FIRST OUT OF OVER 800 ENTRIES AND WAS LAUNCHED AS A PROTOTYPE AT 10 CORSO COMO DURING MILAN FASHION WEEK.
BY DECEMBER 2012, THE PAIR HAD BEEN FEATURED IN TITLES INCLUDING FINANCIAL TIMES, i-D Magazine, VOGUE, GRAZIA, ELLE AND VANITY FAIR ITALIA, CORRIERE DE LA SERA, EL PAÍS SEMANAL, THE PHILIPPINE Star, ADOBO MAGAZINE AND SURFACE ASIA.
IN 2013, FLUTTERBY WAS EXHIBITED along with Louboutins, Manolo Blahniks and other iconic shoes IN SHOE OBSESSION AT THE MUSEUM AT FIT IN NEW YORK. Curated by Valerie Steele and Colleen Hill, the pair WAS SUBSEQUENTLY FEATURED IN THE SHOE OBSESSION BOOK published by Yale University Press.
Lady San Pedro also collaborated with the Guardiani team in developing Flutterby's branding elements: the logo features a butterfly wing, accompanied by the line "Take flight."
ALBERTO GUARDIANI HAS SINCE DESIGNED AND PRODUCED sandal and boot VERSIONS OF THE FLUTTERBY FOR THEIR SEASONAL COLLECTIONS.
